Abstraсt

In the 30s of the XX century, radical changes in the development of healthcare began, which affected the quantitative and qualitative dynamics of the medical intelligentsia. Medical institutes were opened in almost all the Union republics and in many cities of the national republics. In Mordovia, the growth rate of the medical intelligentsia was low. The lack of specialists, especially of Mordovian nationality, was influenced by the absence of a higher medical educational institution. The situation was better with the provision of healthcare institutions with secondary medical personnel. By 1950, there was no acute shortage of middle-level specialists.

In the 1960s, the reform of higher medical education in the USSR was carried out, which made it possible to move from the training of general practitioners to the training of focused specialists. In 1967 with the opening of the Medical Faculty at the Ogarev Mordovia State University, scientists from other universities of the Soviet Union and local medical personnel were invited to teach there.

The article is devoted to the history of the formation of the Medical Faculty of the university, the identification of the role of the first professors in the organization and subsequent development of educational and research work of the faculty. The biographies of professors, highly qualified personnel who had scientific work, extensive practical experience gained, including in military hospitals, are described, as well as their contribution to the formation of educational and scientific work, training of young scientists of the faculty, who later became famous Mordovian scientists and doctors, is noted.
