The article presents an analysis of the encyclopedia “Mordovian mythology” published in 2020 in Saransk. This is a book in which for the first time a comprehensive approach to understanding the phenomenon of mythology of the Mordvins (Moksha and Erzya) as the basis of the ethnic worldview is implemented. It systematizes basic information about the genesis, genre-thematic and plot diversity of Mordovian mythology, its reflection in the samples of oral and poetic creativity, family and social relations, the projection of the mythological consciousness of the people on various types and genres of professional art. The scientific significance of the encyclopedia for further profound research in the field of immaterial culture of the Mordvian people in general and its mythology in particular is emphasized.
