Abstraсt

The article presents an analysis of the new book “Each Generation Has Its Own Heroes”, published on the initiative of veterans of the SOBR of the Republic of Mordovia for the 30th anniversary of the formation of special rapid response units. The book contains material about the stages of the formation of the SOBR in the republic, tells about the military everyday life of Russian officers on difficult firing lines — participation in the first and second campaigns in the Chechen Republic, in the Ossetian-Ingush conflict and operational actions in other hot places. The review concludes that the publication demonstrates a full-scale picture of the reality of the late 1990s — the early 2000s. Through the prism of the memories of the members of the units about military missions and operational work in Mordovia the reader gets acquainted with the difficult military and everyday life of Russian officers.
