Abstraсt

The article analyzes the participation of natives of the Mordovian region in the Patriotic War of 1812, the Russian-Japanese War of 1904–1905. and the First World War 1914–1918. Studying the role of recruits and provincial militias in the Patriotic War of 1812 allows us to identify specific historical events and personalities, and contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of classes in achieving victory over the Napoleonic army. The study of the Russian-Japanese and the First World Wars recreates the holistic history of Russian participation in the defense of our Fatherland at the beginning of the 20th century. Turning to family history, the history of the country and small homeland, allows one to identify previously unknown events, facts of the war years, and restore the traditions of military service in Russia.
