There is no future without culture Interview with Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Shilov

Abstraсt

From September 7 to October 10, 2022 in Saransk, the Mordovian Erzia Museum of Visual Arts exhibited a traveling exhibition “Our Motherland is Russia” by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Shilov. The master works in the genre of landscape. His works are painted in the best traditions of Russian realism, are distinguished by the accuracy and depth of the landscape image and expressive color. The exhibition in Saransk featured 27 paintings by the artist made from nature, revealing the diversity and beauty of Russian nature. The event was held with the support of the Russian Military Historical Society and was aimed at forming a patriotic spirit and consolidating to achieve social harmony, develop and strengthen spiritual, moral, cultural and historical values. The exposition was held in 28 Russian cities and more than 400 000 people visited it. A. A. Shilov’s exhibitions can be called an important component of the popularization of Russia and Russian culture at the international level (they were successfully held in Germany, Bulgaria, Palestine, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Benin). For the project “Our Motherland is Russia” in 2019, the artist was awarded the World Charity Award in the nomination “Project of the Decade”.

On the eve of the opening day, Aleksandr Shilov visited the editorial office of the journal “Center and periphery”. The features of the traveling exhibition, the work and future plans of the master, culture and patriotic education of modern youth became the main themes of our conversation with the artist.
