Travel of S. P. Korolev’s Violin: Moscow — Syzran — Saransk — Moscow

Abstraсt

The article is based on an interesting fact from the life of two famous people: an outstanding scientist, general designer Sergei Pavlovich Korolev and Honored Artist of the Republic of Mordovia Lev Vladimirovich Voronin, who were connected by a violin that became the subject of a telephone conversation between cosmonaut Herman Stepanovich Titov and Voronin’s correspondence with Korolev’s daughter. It was about a musical instrument that Korolev played as a child. The violin was branded, it helped to detect it and even trace its path from the Moscow region through the city of Syzran to Saransk. Alexander Mikhailovich Gavrilov, a violinist by profession, was Korolev’s neighbor, he taught little Seryozha Korolev to play just this violin. In the future, Korolev “gave” the violin “along with classes” to Gavrilov, who in the forties moved to live and work in the city of Syzran, Kuibyshev oblast (today Samara). Thus began the moving of this violin from one city to another, from one violinist to another. They were mostly young musicians. The violin was not particularly distinguished by its acoustic sonority, but the signature inscription belonging to “Ole Bull” (a famous Norwegian composer) was very attractive, and it was willingly accepted or even bought more than once. Thus, one day it turned out to be with L. V. Voronin and came with him to Saransk.
